Spooky Party Ready!
Spooooky… Halloween is just around the corner! During this season, many would dress up as their favourite characters, children would go trick-or-treating, and those who are very pumped up about celebrating would decorate their houses into a graveyard — with skeletons, spider-webs, and tombstones to make it look as creepy and haunted as possible.
Halloween, though not greatly celebrated in Malaysia, is still celebrated by those who would go the extra mile to purchase, make, and ‘DIY’ their own costumes and make sure they are dressed up for this festival that celebrates the dead. According to an article, the tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.
If you are planning to throw a Halloween Party, we’ve made a checklist of everything you need to make your party fun, haunted, and to give your guests chills from beginning until the end.
Setup and Decoration
No party is complete without decorations. Decorations are important as it sets the scene and it brings people into the atmosphere. To give your guests a sense of spookiness the moment they enter your haunted house, you should have:
The ultimate important element of a Halloween party. Whether you are doing a DIY or making a purchase, a Jack-O’-Lantern can easily be found at party shops, purchased online, and even can be made from plastic cups with some orange LED lights.
2. Fake Cobwebs, Spiders, Bats, Skeleton Heads
Hang cobwebs and spiders around in the corners of your living room and on the walls, or you can even have spiders hanging down from the ceiling and have bats ‘flying’ around the room. Skeleton heads can be placed on the floor or hung to give it a ‘floating head’ creepy look.
3. Tissue Ghosts
Not only does it heighten the whole eerie experience, but it is also made of eco friendly materials. All you need is just tissue paper, and a black Sharpie to draw the ghosts’ face and you are good to go!
Candles would be the perfect decoration for a season like this. Have all your house lights dimmed, with only the candles lighted up. It’s going to get you more in the spine-chilling mode. Can you picture it?
5. Turn Your Garden Space/Backyard Into A Graveyard
Include tombstones, skeleton bodies, coffins, and animals digging the grave. To add more ‘excitement’ to the setup, use dry ice to create an eerie mist.
What’s a party without the fun activities right? There’s so much you can do at a party, especially a Halloween party.
Movies are the real frightening ones as it is very visual. As much as we can have all the horror movies played, some of the most suggested horror movies are: The House of the Devil, The Exorcist, Night of the Living Dead, Halloween, The Nun, and The Conjuring.
Playing Halloween games does not mean we start inviting unwanted spirits into the place, because that would be just plain scary. Do some fun games like Pumpkin Pictionary, Halloween Movie Trivia, Charades, or maybe a spooky version of Truth or Dare.
Music – something a party can never leave out. With the help of spooky music, it will definitely stir up the horrifying atmosphere and to give your guests goosebumps the moment they set foot into your party. This is the absolute spectre vibe that we want to go for!
Food and Beverage
With giving off all the scary and thrilling vibe and atmosphere, it doesn’t stop here. It’s time we feed our guests with the most haunted and ‘gross’ yet delicious Halloween cuisine. As Trick-or Treating is part of the Halloween tradition, candies and sweet tooth food are essential.
You can also serve drinks of different colours, for example, blood-red, orange, black, or even green and put dry ice in a bucket to make it look like a witch’s cauldron. As for the utensils and table decoration, you can custom-make skeleton hands forks, cobweb tablecloth, creepy hand bowl, spooky centerpieces like the Jack-O’-Lantern or Skeleton head and many more.
The food is the most interesting part. You can be as creative as possible and make the food as spooky as you wish! Skeleton head cake pops, mummy cupcakes, white chocolate ghosts, and eyeball shaped doughnuts are just some of the brilliant Halloween themed food. Create yours today and we hope you come up with the freakiest foods for your party!
With all the amazing setup, decorations, fun activities, and the delicious food, one thing you shouldn’t miss out on is to have a camera. Set up a photobooth at the corner and take as many pictures to make this party a memorable one. And if you’re worried about not having a photographer on standby, use the TAG La device as a selfie remote! This selfie remote allows you to take big group pictures and selfies to make sure you party hassle-free. On a side note, it is very likely that we lose our items especially in such a big party and setting. Hence, the TAG La device comes into play. That way, you can find your items back easily! But if you happen to lose things unknowingly… you know what that means…
